Description
NOT a typical Pilates workshop, this workshop is for anyone wanting to add more movement into your life or for movement professionals helping others to foster better habits.
The methods you’ll learn come from my background as a physical therapist as well as the 4 Laws of Behavior Change as shared by author James Clear in his best-selling book “Atomic Habits”.
The strategies that I’ll share can be applied to any desired habit you want to foster beyond more movement to include supporting better nutrition, sleep, gratitude, learning an instrument, losing weight, writing…the principles are transferable!
Fun… or not so fun facts:
- Highly active people don’t increase their mortality with prolonged sitting (who are they? people getting greater than 300 min of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week)
- 85% of American adults are insufficiently active, meaning they’re not meeting even the minimum recommended amount of 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week
I’ll share my hacks to sneak in movement in different rooms and during different activities in your home and outside. We’ll explore the research behind the latest updates to the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans which offers the encouraging news that all activity counts, not just bouts of 10 minutes or more.
With this interactive workshop, be prepared to self-reflect, write, move, and be open to change. You’ll leave with a handout and action plan that you can apply immediately.
“Teresa’s workshop on adding movement in daily life was practical and easy to implement. It’s one of the first of its kind to take this novel approach to fitness. The writing assignments helped me integrate the behavior change laws into my own life and the guided movement breaks and video clips of movement hacks in Teresa’s own daily routine were so helpful. Highly recommend!”– Caroline E.
