Session Description
Looking for a small, safe and encouraging environment with an experienced professional to improve core strength, posture, flexibility and overall health? Then this is the right place for you.
I offer you a movement session that is vibrant and rewarding and which integrates my experience as a physical therapist, Pilates instructor, and modern dancer. You’ll have at your disposal the latest in Pilates equipment and the opportunity, if you wish, to have key portions of your session videotaped for home practice. When deemed appropriate, I also incorporate manual physical therapy techniques such as joint mobilizations, muscle energy techniques and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.
At the start of each session, I check in with you to see if there are special areas of concern that day or any particular requests you might have. Each session typically ends with a short massage using Bongers to the back and shoulder area. The Bongers provide an invigorating percussion-like massage called tapotement which improves circulation and eases muscle tension. My clients tell me that after working hard in their session, they look forward to the bonging as their time to just “relax and receive”. I also meticulously document your progress and use it as the basis on which to structure future sessions.
Overall, my sessions increase your knowledge about your body and will help you to reach your potential, often beyond what you thought possible. “No pain, no gain” is not my mantra. Sessions are tailored to remain within pain free limits while providing enough of a challenge to ensure you meet your goals.
I appreciate that Teresa tailors my exercise regimen with a careful eye on my physical limitations, which include structural changes due to osteoporosis and previous fractures. I always leave my workouts knowing that I’ve been in good hands.”
